Alternate Test of RF Mixers by Current Signatures
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper describes an alternate test methodology for radio-frequency mixers. The methodology is based on current signatures obtained by sampling the filtered supply current when the circuit-under-test is stimulated by a single tone sinusoidal. Sampling of supply current instead of voltage eliminates the parasitics and loading due to test circuitry on the signal path, hence provides a non-invasive built-in-self-test methodology. Furthermore, the experiments show that specification prediction accuracy is not significantly degraded by decreasing the stimulus power. The goal of the paper is to examine the advantages and disadvantages of current-based alternate tests and provide feasibility analysis for future directions. Multi-tone Simulation of Mixers
This paper describes a new artificial frequency mapping technique suitable for the simulation of RF/Microwave mixers when excited by a multi-tone signal. Due to the computational efficiency gained this way, it is for the first time possible to simultaneously analyse small and large signal behaviour of nonlinear mixers subject to real multi-tone signals. As well as the theoretical study, illustr...
متن کاملConsider Overall Cascaded Performance When Comparing Integrated RF Frequency Mixers to Passive Mixer Solutions - AN2371
Passive mixers have insertion loss that requires compensation in either the RF or IF gain stages to establish the overall desired receiver noise figure performance. For these passive mixers, the user must not only consider the third-order input intercept points (IIP3), but should also consider the output third-order intercept point (OIP3) when comparing the performance to integrated mixers. Pas...
متن کاملPlanar Active Rectrodirective Array With Subharmonic Phase Conjugation Mixers
A planar active retrodirective four-element array with subharmonic phase conjugation mixers based on anti-parallel diode pairs (APDPs) is proposed. As compared to previous phase conjugation mixers using twice RF frequency for LO frequency, the proposed conjugation mixers need only half RF frequency so that it can be easily applied for millimeter-wave applications. Receive, transmitting, local o...
متن کاملImage-Reject and Single-Sideband Mixers
Image-reject mixers (IRMs) and single-sideband mixers (SSMs) play a key role in many of today’s microwave and rf systems [1, 2, 3]. IRMs and SSMs reduce system cost and complexity by removing the need for expensive preselection, and one or more stages of upor downconversion. IRMs simplify downconversion by employing phase-cancellation techniques to separate the downconverted products resulting ...
